14 Days of Valentines- Two Takes on One Sketch

4x6 Photo Blog-Sketch 54

All right, that's it! I'm declaring a Valentine's Day re-do. My Valentine's Day didn't go remotely like I planned, which is why I'm posting the last 2 projects 2 days after Valentine's Day.

So, here's my project and my rationale for them. I love sketches. I think they take the guesswork out of a layout and you can concentrate on the artwork and not the technical details. I thought it would be fun to make 2 different pages with one sketch and see what happened. I figured I'd do one more detailed than the other, with paper piecings and chalking/inking on the individual elements. I planned to do the other one more quickly, with ready-made elements. Boy, was I surprised. I did the page with the paper piecing (BTW- the pattern is from MyScrapChick) and it took so much less time than the one with the pre-made elements. I think I need to be more decisive. LOL

I found this sketch at 4x6 Photo Sketch Blog. I love this site because I usually don't have room to crop my pictures after I take them. I try to get up close when I take the pictures, so there's not much room to crop.

Anyway, here are my takes on the sketch above. It cracks me up how they both took on a life of their own and bear only a slight resemblance to each other. LOL

14 Days of Valentines- Candy Heart Valentine with Matching Envelope

Happy Valentine's Day Eve! I hope you already have your gifts purchased. Otherwise, you're going to be wandering around in Wal-Mart with a lot of other confused people. LOL

Sorry I didn't get my project posted yesterday. My baby got a cold and we slept in the chair 2 nights. I use the term "slept" very, very loosely. Anyway, I just wasn't able to get yesterday's project done. I'll make up for it by posting 2 tomorrow.

Today I have for you last week's Build-A-Project from Creative Kuts. I'm late posting it, but I hope the girls from Creative Kuts will forgive me. I bet they will. They're pretty nice people.
This was such an easy set to work with. I'm thinking this would make a darling gift box and card set for someone I know. Might just have to fill it with some goodies and take it to my Momma.

Have a great day and don't forget about my giveaway here.

14 Days of Valentines-Chocoholic Layout

First off, I'm so sorry for the condition of this picture. I'm going to take another one tomorrow, hopefully. I have spent all day with my kids and I didn't get my project done today. I've had a wonderful day with my kiddos. At one point in time, my little guy was laughing so hard, he fell over. You can't beat that! I knew if anyone was waiting for today's post, they'd forgive me after knowing I spent time with my family.

My project for today is a layout using patterns from Paper Piecings by Nikki :

The title is from Little Scraps of Heaven

I used a sketch from Little Scraps Of Heaven as well. I planned to make this a boy-themed layout, but somehow it evolved to this. I really like it though.

Have a great day!

14 Days of Valentines- Turtle Valentine Layout

Welcome to Love Makes the World Go Round, but Laughter Keeps Us From Getting Dizzy Week. Try putting that on the front of a greeting card!

I figure since this is a papercrafts and scrapbooking blog, I should probably scrapbook a little, right? So, here's my take on a sketch at Little Scraps of Heaven. Each week, they give you a sketch and you do your take on it. I love that because, you can just concentrate on creating. You already know where everything is going to go and you just make the elements. I love concentrating on the art of it and not getting too technical.

Here's a closer look at the turtle:

14 Days of Valentines-You Rock Card

Happy Read in the Bathtub Day! Doesn't that sound like a nice thing to do today? It's cold and overcast here and I'd be glad to sit in the bathtub surrounded by bubbles and read a nice book. Reality is probably going to make that impossible, but that's okay. I'll play with  my babies instead. That's nice too.

Okay, today I have a card for which I made the pattern. Be kind. It's my debut into the pattern world. The idea is not original with me. I actually got the idea from a scrapbook magazine and I can see some things I'd like to change, but overall, I think I like it.

Inside the card is a pun. I think the recipient will forgive you for the pun, since it's a candy pun. Pop Rocks. Get it? Ha! Ha! (Aren't you glad I'm not there to elbow you in the ribs as I say this?)

Have a great day and sign up for my giveaway.

14 Days of Valentines- Goin' Retro with a Ransom Note Valentine Card

This week is International Friendship week. I hope you have a good one. I can tell you I've been blessed with several good friends in my lifetime. I hope you have too.

One of the things I love about papercrafts is the ability to take what you have and make something you can use. That's what I'm showing you today. I have a card I gave my hubby for Valentine's Day in 2010. I used leftover letter stickers and made a ransom note Valentine. I crumpled and inked a background page. I wish I had a coffee cup stamp that looked like a coffee cup had been set on it. That would have been cool. Anybody know where to get one?

Have a great day and don't forget to hug your friend today.

14 Days of Valentines- I Love You Jar

So, how is everybody? How's your relationship with your neighbors? I know you probably think that's a strange questions, but since today is Wave All Your Fingers At Your Neighbors Day, I'm assuming neighbor problems must be pretty common. I guess today is the day you wave at your neighbors instead of making rude gestures as they take out their trash. I'm telling you, I can't make these holidays up.

Today I have for you a jar that has a myriad of possibilities. This would be so cute as a "Reasons I Love You" jar. I think it would be fun filled with love-related quotes. It would make an adorable Valentine gift.

The pattern came from Paper Piecings by Nikki. She has some really cute patterns.

Have a great day and don't forget to wave at your neighbors...with all your fingers!

14 Days of Valentines-So In Love Card

Welcome to Day 6 of 14 Days of Valentines. This week is Dump Your Significant Jerk Week. I found it on the internet looking for bizarre holidays. Yep, that qualifies. I guess if you're gearing up for Valentines and you can't stand to look across the table at a jerk, you can take this opportunity to dump 'em. The things people come up with! Wow!
I made this card for a card swap in which I'm participating. The pattern is from MyScrapChick. I do love their patterns. I used the same paper I used for the Sweet Cherries Card. Valentine Cards are so fun to make!

Have a great day, y'all!

14 Days of Valentines-My Non-Traditional Valentine Step Card

I bet you thought I forgot about Day 5, huh. If you haven't noticed that I've gone all day without posting day 5, please don't tell me. :-) Today is Weatherperson's day. Have you hugged your Weatherperson today? I'm mad at mine after the rain he sent yesterday!

Anyway, here's my project for today. I know it's not a traditional Valentine card, but I saw the tag and I wanted to use those colors. I used the Valentine SVG's from Art by Annel. You can find it here. It's my first attempt at a step card. It's actually pretty easy to make them. I found a tutorial here.

I love that depending on which direction you turn the card, you see that color.
Here's green:

Here's purple:

See, the fun never ends...or else I'm easily entertained. Yeah, that's probably it.

Have a great day!

14 Days of Valentines- Sweet Cherries Card

Remember how I was telling you I wouldn't mind 6 more weeks of this winter? Well, winter arrived yesterday. No snow, but it's muddy and yucky outside. Perfect crafting weather. It's also Ice Cream for Breakfast day. Don't mind if I do! :-)

Today is Day 4 of 14 Days of Valentines and today I have for you a sweet card. I used the Heart Cherries from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. I also used the Heart Doilies from Designs on Cloud 9. I told you I wanted to use those Heart Doilies.

I'm going to use this card for a card swap I'm participating in. I've never done one before and I'm kind of excited. I'm going to make this card again though, so it is for sale. I can make it in with different colors if you want. It's $3.50, plus $1.50 shipping. Just e-mail me here if you're interested.

14 Days of Valentines-Love Ya Sign Card

Will he or won't he? Today is Groundhog Day. Any bets on what he'll see? I wouldn't mind 6 more weeks of this winter. It's been the mildest winter. Last year at this time, we were under 20 inches of snow. Today, we're going to the park. Quite a difference, huh?

Today, we have a Valentine card for someone special in my life. I used the Love Ya Sign from Designs on Cloud 9. I just love this set!

The outside says, "I Love You...". The inside says, "...no matter what!"

I can see this pattern set being used for cards for all occasions. Anniversary? Just because? Get Well Soon? Apology?
Here's a closer look at the whole pattern.

Did I mention, I love this set? It would be so cool to make a whole set of cards for all occasions.

I wonder how it would look with this pattern behind it. I may have to make another card now.

Happy 2nd day of Valentines and Groundhog Day!

14 Days of Valentines-Valentine Mailbox and Blog Candy!

Happy February! When I was younger, my mom declared the first of each month to be International Goof Off Day. We would celebrate by having funny foods and usually, we would either have a light day of schoolwork, or none at all. (We were homeschooled.) Sometimes, we went somewhere for International Goof Off Day. Mom and Dad would know where we were going, but we kids had no idea. The called it "Destination Unknown". We made a lot of memories that way. I'm thinking today might be a good International Goof Off Day...after I get off work, of course. :-)

For the first day of February, a.k.a. International Goof Off Day, we have a Valentine Mailbox. This would be so cute filled with candy. I don't have any, so you have to use your imagination. :-)

The pattern is this week's Build-A-Project from Creative Kuts. You should be able to get the kit here after this week.

Now, on to the blog candy! You have a chance to win a custom gift bag. You tell me what you want on it, and I'll put it on there. I'm thinking this would be adorable on a gift bag.

This pattern from Stinkin' Cute Paper Piecings
